Welcome to Restaurante Ko'ox Janal, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Jose Maria Morelos, Quintana Roo. Located at C. 46 de la Primavera, this mariscos-style restaurant is a delightful stop for anyone traveling through the region, specifically those making the trek between Mahahual and Merida.

With a reputation for serving exceptional seafood at remarkably reasonable prices, Ko'ox Janal has earned rave reviews from diners. One customer, Scarlet Newman, praised the restaurant's Chile seafood soup, a delectable botana served complimentary with drinks, perfect for whetting one's appetite. The experience is elevated by the restaurant’s charming ambiance despite its seemingly simple exterior, which adds to its allure as a true culinary find.

Among the highlights is their generous selection of dishes featuring shrimp, octopus, and fish fillets. Siegfried Forster lauded the fantastic seafood, while Andris Petris enjoyed both the ceviche and shrimp in garlic. It’s worth noting that dish sizes are abundant, ensuring that no one leaves hungry. Diner K. Kaplan remarked, "the portions are huge!"—a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to satisfying its patrons.

on a 5 hour road trip from Mahahual to Merida we were thrilled to find this delightful Mariscos style restaurant open as it is Semana Santa. Be patient and follow Google directions as it is a number of streets off the main road. The botana served with the drinks was a chile seafood soup that was delicious.

A true hidden gem! The surroundings look quite plain, but all the food was fantastic. We got a fish soup as an appetiser and had shrimp, octopus, and fish fillet as mains. The portion sizes were generous to say the least.

Great place to eat, cannot comment on fact that they have only shrimp as we ordered only those, but both dishes were great, ceviche and shrimp in Garlic both wet great, maybe I could have wanted few more shrimps compared to what was on my wife's ceviche but taste was good and it was only 130 and 135. Beer was 30 and you get a small free seafood soup which was great as well. The only downside is they don't really have menu so if you don't speak Spanish as we you have o work the pictures from here.
